Starship Vision
One warp core, four decks
by Captain Picard
TODAY
One away mission. It stops at every bulkhead it meets.

EACH DASHED LINE IS A BULKHEAD BETWEEN DECKS

The same mission. One course, and nothing to wait for.

One warp core Starfleet ships
changes what every deck does —
and nobody else does the work.
I BUILT THIS · STARDATE 1
Replicator
A crew member gets it without installing anything in their own quarters. It does not adopt a device, it opts in.
my own hypothesis
SOMEONE ELSE BUILT THIS
Holodeck
A ship gets it from one input on a shared module — in the Klingon fleet, with no reference to any of this.
the independent case
I BUILT THIS · STARDATE 2
Shields
A threat model credits a ship-provided shield instead of reporting a gap. No Red Alert campaign.
my own hypothesis
Two of these I built myself, to test the idea. One arrived at the same shape without me. That is a hypothesis with one independent confirmation — not a proven model.

DECK
TODAY
INSTEAD
Engineering
Builds gadgets for the ship it owns.
Builds the warp core the other three drive. Owns the course, the definitions and the identity — not the missions running on them.
Science
Takes scan requests, one anomaly at a time.
Owns the sensors as a versioned product. Joins at planning time for genuinely new anomalies. This is how science work reaches them — not all of what they scan.
Security
Opens a red alert cold, and needs the one officer who knows the ship.
Opens it already holding the failing part and what changed. That is the floor — the goal is agreed objectives, shield budgets, observable bridges.
Medical
Runs checkups as projects. Asks every crew member to take a hypospray.
Reads the logs continuously and ships a cure as a ship-wide change. And moves earlier — shaping how crews get built, not treating them afterwards.
Away
teams
teams
Wait on a request. Copy another deck's checklist and maintain it. Meet Starfleet's expectations at arrival.
Declare what they need and get a running, observed mission. Write what is specific to their planet and nothing else.
